Despite being a stress-bearing part, the stock sear is made of zinc die-cast, which leaves considerable uncertainty about its strength. Repeated use can cause wear, leading to imbalance of the sear and ultimately to failure of the trigger system. The PDI 2nd sear is machined with high precision from high-strength S45C using a wire EDM, eliminating any durability issues.
